Job Summary

The Epic-Certified ECSA Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading the technical planning, execution, and delivery of Epic infrastructure and application projects. This role bridges technical teams, Epic analysts, vendors, and clinical/business stakeholders to ensure Epic systems are implemented, upgraded, and supported securely, reliably, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with deep Epic technical knowledge, particularly Epic Client Systems Administration (ECSA), and experience managing complex healthcare IT environments.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Management

  • Lead Epic technical projects including implementations, upgrades, migrations, and optimizations

  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (infrastructure, Epic analysts, security, vendors, and clinical stakeholders)

  • Track milestones, deliverables, and resource utilization

  • Provide regular status reports and executive-level communication

Epic Technical Leadership

  • Oversee Epic client systems, Citrix, virtualization, and endpoint strategies

  • Ensure Epic technical standards align with Epic recommendations and organizational policies

  • Coordinate Epic upgrade readiness, technical validation, and go-live support

  • Serve as a technical escalation point for Epic infrastructure issues

Infrastructure & Security Oversight

  • Partner with infrastructure teams on servers, storage, networking, Citrix, and cloud environments

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, security, and organizational governance standards

  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability planning

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as liaison between Epic, internal IT teams, and third-party vendors

  • Facilitate design sessions, technical reviews, and decision-making forums

  • Manage vendor deliverables and contract-related milestones

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Maintain project documentation, runbooks, and technical workflows

  • Identify opportunities to improve Epic technical delivery processes

  • Support standardization and best practices across Epic technical projects


Required Qualifications

  • Epic Certification: Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) – required

  • 5+ years of healthcare IT project management experience

  • 3+ years of Epic technical or infrastructure project leadership

  • Strong understanding of Epic architecture, Citrix, virtualization, and endpoint management

  • Proven experience managing large, complex technical projects

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional Epic certifications (e.g., Hosting, Hyperdrive, Cogito, or application modules)

  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile certification (PMP strongly preferred)

  • Experience with Epic implementations, major upgrades, or data center/cloud migrations

  • Knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Azure/AWS, and enterprise networking

  • Experience working in large health systems or academic medical centers
