Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the end-to-end architecture for a Snowflake-based Data Mesh platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing scalable data models, defining Snowflake architecture, implementing security and governance standards, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant data management. This role requires deep expertise in data architecture, Data Mesh principles, and cloud-based data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for 9 source systems and 2 MVP Data Products.
- Define and implement Snowflake architecture, including RAW, CURATED, and GOLD layers, warehouse sizing, and retention policies.
- Design and implement RBAC, Row-Level Security (RLS), and column masking using SHA-256 hashing for PHI/PII protection.
- Establish enterprise standards for naming conventions, service account key-pair authentication, network policies, and MFA enforcement.
- Review ETL/ELT pipeline designs and enforce Data Mesh interoperability standards.
- Support ZB InfoSec security reviews and HIPAA compliance activities.
- Guide CI/CD deployment processes from Development → Test → Production using Azure DevOps.
Required Skills
- 10–14 years of experience in Data Architecture, with 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.
- SnowPro Advanced Certification preferred.
- Strong expertise in dimensional modeling and Data Vault modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), dbt, Azure Key Vault, and Pulumi Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Deep understanding of Data Mesh principles, including:
- Domain Ownership
- Data as a Product
- Federated Governance
- Strong experience implementing enterprise data security, including RBAC, RLS, data masking, and governance.
- Experience with HIPAA, PHI, and PII compliance, preferably within the healthcare or life sciences domain.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Erwin or ER Studio data modeling tools.
- TOGAF Certification.
- Experience with Horizon Data Catalog.
- Healthcare or Life Sciences domain experience.
- Strong communication, architecture governance, and stakeholder management skills.
