What Is RHTP?
The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) is a nationwide, multi-year initiative led by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to strengthen and modernize rural healthcare systems across all 50 states. With $50 billion in funding over five years (FY 2026–2030), the program aims to move rural health systems beyond short-term relief toward sustainable, value-based, and technology-enabled care models, while improving access to care, addressing workforce shortages, enhancing interoperability, and driving better health outcomes for underserved rural populations through long-term systemic transformation.
