Epic HB & PB Analyst

Job Title: Epic HB & PB Analyst

The Epic HB & PB Analyst is responsible for the design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of Epic Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB) modules. This role partners closely with revenue cycle, finance, compliance, and clinical stakeholders to ensure accurate billing workflows, regulatory compliance, and optimized revenue cycle performance.

Key Responsibilities

Epic Application Support & Optimization

• Configure, maintain, and support Epic HB and PB modules according to organizational and regulatory requirements

• Analyze business workflows and translate them into Epic system design and build

• Perform system testing, integrated testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT)

• Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions

• Manage Epic upgrades, enhancements, and new functionality releases

Revenue Cycle Collaboration

• Partner with Revenue Cycle, Patient Financial Services, Coding, Compliance, and Finance teams

• Support charge capture, claims processing, remittance posting, billing edits, and denial workflows

• Ensure accurate setup for fee schedules, contracts, payors, and billing rules

• Assist with regulatory changes (CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payors)

Data, Reporting & Compliance

• Support billing-related reporting, workqueues, dashboards, and operational metrics

• Ensure system configuration aligns with compliance and audit standards

• Assist with data validation, reconciliation, and revenue integrity initiatives

Training & Documentation

• Develop and maintain system documentation, workflows, and build specifications

• Provide end-user support and education as needed

• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Epic HB and PB functionality

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 3+ years of Epic HB and/or PB analyst experience in a healthcare environment

• Epic HB and/or PB certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)

• Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations and healthcare billing processes

• Experience with system build, testing, and go-live support

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic HB and PB certification

• Experience with large health systems or multi-facility organizations

• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payor billing rules

• Experience supporting Epic upgrades and optimization initiatives

• Familiarity with Epic Resolute, Clarity/Caboodle reporting, or revenue integrity workflows
