Job Description:

Position Summary:

The MEDITECH Expanse LIS Analyst is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) within the MEDITECH Expanse environment. This role works closely with laboratory, pathology, and IT teams to ensure efficient workflows, data integrity, system optimization, and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and support the MEDITECH Expanse LIS module, including dictionaries, test builds, workflows, and interfaces.

  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership and staff to understand operational needs and translate them into system requirements.

  • Build and maintain interfaces between the LIS and other clinical systems (e.g., HIS, EMR, middleware, analyzers, reference labs).

  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, validation, and change management processes.

  • Develop and maintain documentation including workflows, configuration settings, and standard operating procedures.

  • Provide end-user training, support, and troubleshooting for LIS-related issues.

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and implement process improvements.

  • Participate in on-call support rotation for critical system issues.

  • Assist with report development and data extracts to support clinical, regulatory, and operational reporting.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.

  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supporting or implementing MEDITECH LIS, preferably in the Expanse environment.

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting or strong understanding of laboratory operations and workflows.

  • Prior experience with HL7 interfaces and instrument connectivity preferred.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and accreditation standards (CAP, CLIA, etc.).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work with both clinical and technical staff.

  • Proficiency in MEDITECH Expanse tools and workflows.

  • Familiarity with SQL, report writing, or data extraction tools is a plus.
